The Winthrop Foundation offers grant funding to local nonprofits and public-serving organizations with the goal of addressing the socioeconomic and environmental effects on the Winthrop community caused by projects, facilities, and activities at Logan Airport. Established in May 2019 with the support of Robert DeLeo, the former Speaker of the House, and financed through an appropriation from the Massachusetts Port Authority (MassPort), the Foundation's seven-member Board of Trustees is responsible for overseeing the distribution of funds to nonprofit organizations and public-serving entities that benefit Winthrop residents.
Organizational documentation comprises the Declaration of Trust, the Community Mitigation Agreement, and the Foundation's Bylaws. Financial statements are posted upon availability.
